A White Couch

January 27, 2010

Adding fresh colours to your home is so easy when you have a staple piece like this white couch. You can change out your pillows and throws, paint your walls, and even change out a rug to create a fresh new feeling every few months. A white couch will allow you to play with the seasons and will always have your home feeling fresh. Maintaining a white couch is easier than most think, all you need to do is to continue to maintain instead of only clean it every few months. Find a great staple piece like this white couch, and you will always find new ways to personalize your home.

Decorating with Mirrors

January 21, 2010

Decorating with mirrors by even adding a small side table can illuminate any area with style and luxury. Mirrors are timeless and work well in contemporary interiors, just as this one does in this small bathroom. By adding a non-traditional mirror to your home, you are able to play with light and space in a new way. We love this little table, and hope you can find a little piece of luxury like this to add to your small spaces today.

Designers to Watch; Michael Aram

January 18, 2010

Our next set of the series ‘Designers to Watch’ features an amazing designer by the name of Michael Aram. He is an American born artist who studied art in New York and later traveled to India to find the inspiration for his beautiful handmade designs of today. He works primarily in metals where no two pieces are exactly the same. He creates everything from tables to lighting to candles, and has something for everyone to enjoy. His pieces are spiritual and personalized, two concepts we always want our home to embody for our own well-being.

We know you will love his pieces and find a connection between nature and style. We personally love his enchanted forest collection that ranges from polished aluminum lamps to vases to side tables, as well as his set of beautiful scented candles. Check out some of our favorite pieces from his work in our image gallery below!

Nature, Simplicity, and Style

January 12, 2010

Running water fountains can enhance the tranquility and beauty of your outdoor space. The sound of flowing water adds an instant peace and can connect you closer to nature. It is important to have a fountain that is as beautiful aesthetically as it is to your ears, so we recommend finding a piece that you will be able to love for years to come.

Nature, Simplicity, and Style

In the image above we have a large fountain that fits into the great space provided by this patio. We also added a great pot with a rounded plant, giving shape to the length of the fountain. Find an area where you can feature running water that is as simple and stylish as the one above, so you too can relax and enjoy it everyday.

Vintage Classic Decor

January 10, 2010

Vintage Classic home decor is by far one of the most fun and trendy ways to add style to any contemporary or modern home. Many people may wonder what vintage classic really means and why it isn’t just described in nature as antique furniture. My own personal idea of vintage classic describes this type of decor as unique pieces made after the 1920s that are as beautiful and stylish as they were the day they were produced.

If there is a bit of paint that is missing, the value is not decreased, it is only enhanced as you now have a piece with a unique style that is all your own. You may not find the piece you are looking for at the first store you stop at, but the beauty within vintage classic furniture and decor is the ‘treasure hunt’ you will pursue for that perfect piece. Whether there are just touches of a vase here, and a lamp there, vintage classic can take a simple home and turn it into an awe inspired world of personal style, beauty, and luxury.

Style Quick Tip

Liven up your home with a beautiful orchid!

Decorating your home with orchids is an inexpensive way to bring colour to these winter days. Find a great pot that will be able to fit the original plastic pot you purchased the orchid in, add some moss to the top of the soil, and place your flower near a window. It is important these flowers are not in direct sunlight, but have light available to them, and are watered once a week.

Decorate with Orchids

We can see why orchids have been a symbol of love, luxury, and beauty for hundreds of years. These flowers are so beautiful and easy to keep in your home. Enjoy some colour in your life today!
