Introducing Lucy + Ellen Jewelry!

November 22, 2010

As many of our readers know, we have an Etsy shop called Lucy + Ellen where we sell vintage pieces from baby scales to beautiful silver. Well now we’re expanding into a new world on Etsy and we’re so excited to announce our new jewelry shop, Lucy + Ellen Jewelry! We’ve always made jewelry for personal use, and we were often asked where we bought our necklaces, etc. So we finally made the jump and started our jewelry shop! We are working on necklaces at this point, many of which include vintage charms with simple yet beautiful designs. Check out some of our pieces…many more to be uploaded to the shop this week!

Colour Inspiration; Mix and Match

November 18, 2010

We had to share a few images Kristen shot for a client here in Santa Barbara. I love her kitchen and knew this would be perfect for some colour inspiration. This clients’ style is impeccable, and I think she has the perfect combination of colours and textures for this California kitchen. There is a great mix of traditional and quirky style in this home, and that is why I LOVE it! Her vintage chromed bar stools with yellow cushions, and the amazing colour details throughout, make this kitchen my colour inspiration!

Here is a close up of a small area in the kitchen that I think leaves a big presence. She has this open area to display her dishes, and instead of choosing one colour palette, she has picked a number of bright dishes. Why not add some fun to your space by livening up your simple set of white dishes or white cabinets? By adding vivid pinks and bright green dishes, this kitchen was transformed into an enlightened room where entertaining and style meet some serious ‘colour luxury.’

Dreaming of…Holiday Style!

November 17, 2010

Today I’m dreaming of holiday style! I love this time of the year, and although I love the traditional reds and greens, I also love the soft and calming hues of whites, golds, and silvers. I think it’s important to find your own holiday style, without going overboard on clashing colours with your everyday decor. As preparing for the holidays can be a bit stressful at times, why not create your own holiday oasis with beautiful soft tones in pieces you can enjoy year after year? Find some bliss in simplicity and calm with these pieces.

New Vintage at Lucy + Ellen

November 17, 2010

This past week has been a little crazy for Kristen and myself, and we have not been able to post much. We are now back and have a few fun posts planned for the rest of the week! As many of you know, Kristen and I share an Etsy shop called Lucy + Ellen. We named our shop after our grandmothers, Lucy and Ellen, who have always been fabulous in everything they do. Being inspired by these two amazing women, we found our own passions to combine our love for design with our love for finding fabulous items.

Those of you with Etsy shops and other online stores know that there is a lot of planning going into this holiday season, so we have been updating our Etsy shop with some great new finds. From pretty silver pieces to quirky items, we have unique one of a kind items we have found through weekends of flea market and estate sale adventures. How are you preparing your Etsy shops the holiday season? Let us know!

Odds and Ends

November 10, 2010

It’s always fun spending the day going through rows and rows of vintage finds, and I seem to get excited when I find collections of miscellaneous pieces that are colourful and fun. Whether it’s searching for those little odds and ends to complete my own projects or to help me create new things, I’m always on the search for these little pieces.

I love finding vintage threads and fabrics, along with vintage jewelry and other crafty items to help me get my creative on. Odds and ends may be just that, but it’s the little things that can inspire big ideas!
