Back from Paris

September 13, 2010

Bonjour!  I’m back from Paris and this week I will share a few places I discovered while I was on holiday that I loved. I shot so many photos, and will be posting them throughout the week. I had an amazing time walking through the city, enjoying the architecture, searching through old antique furniture shops, vintage jewelry stands, and of course searching for finds at the Paris flea market.

I was amazed by the mix of new and old architecture throughout the city. It was such a great experience, and I loved taking in all my beautiful surroundings. Here are a few places and spaces that I thought were amazing…

Tomorrow I will be posting about my experience at the Paris flea market. Can’t wait to share some of the beautiful pieces I wish I could have brought home with me!

Vintage Prints. Audubon Love.

September 8, 2010

As sisters, Kristen and I share the same likes and dislikes when it comes to design, and our love for vintage and antique prints is a passion we both share. We love all types of vintage and antique prints, including those of beautiful birds, flowers, plants, and sea life. We are obviously particularly fond of those prints that were originally Audubon paintings, but we are always on the lookout for anything with bright colours and good design. So in LOVE!

We’ve been collecting these prints for years now, and probably have about 1000 of them from all over the country! Whenever we set out on our vintage explorations, we make a point to look for these beautiful pieces of art.

We have met so many neat people throughout our adventures and have found others with collections much larger than ours! We could spend hours looking for these prints, and every time we see a new one, it’s like Christmas Day!

Find a great frame, and these prints will look so classy in your office, bathroom, or hallway. Enjoy these beautiful prints, and maybe you can start a collection of your own!

I’m always looking for a mix of great vintage pieces paired with modern, new goods, and have found that designer Laura Su from Prismera Designs has done this perfectly!  The mini shop on the site, Tinker Supply Co., is comprised of new, handmade, eco-friendly and vintage goods, all tools for simple living.  The shop includes items such as beautiful recycled glass tumblers, wire baskets, and luxurious leather ribbon keychains. Enjoy these great finds!

Farmhouse Kitchen

August 30, 2010

As fall is quickly approaching I’m getting excited for all the fun things that come along with it! A soft fall breeze, tasty candy apples, and beautiful fall colours are just a few of the things I love about this time of year. Fall reminds me of the amazing food that goes along with it, so I am inspired by this farmhouse kitchen chic today. It makes me crave spending time with family, especially in the kitchen! I love spending time in the country during this time of year, and since I can’t make it out there anytime soon, I’m going to enjoy these lovely photos!

This image reminds me of a beautiful farmhouse kitchen in France. A farmhouse kitchen isn’t complete without white vintage egg cups like these.

Baking is essential to me during this warm and cozy time of year. It’s still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors during the day, but late afternoon is the perfect time to start up your oven and bake an apple pie!

How neat is this vintage sifter? I could definitely see this piece sitting around that farmhouse chic kitchen.

Gallivanting Girls

This image reminds me of one of our family traditions; making popcorn balls with Grandma Lucy. She is the queen at making popcorn balls, and it’s one of my favorite things to do with her. So yummy!

The lighting in this photo reminds me of the light in my kitchen from the fall sun. Very cozy and comfortable.

Loving this image and these milk cartons. Very vintage and very cute!

Above Jewels

Although Grandma Lucy is the popcorn ball queen, my Mom is the queen at making candy. When she starts making her yummy homemade candy, you know it’s finally fall! I just might have to get this set for her.
