Stylish Home

August 18, 2010

We are so crazy about this home! These images are from a recent shoot Kristen did in Los Olivos, California. There is an obvious beauty when you look at this home, with amazing architectural details and very creative decor. We have found the details and style of this home to be so personal and inviting. The home owner has combined a breathtaking style with an element of classic design mixed in with great vintage finds.

We love the large barn doors that break up the dining area and the family room. These beautiful vintage barn doors are directly opposite of classic french doors that open up to a spacious back patio. The home owner’s choice of natural colors of whites, browns, and tans, add an element of classic decor, and the vintage inspired dining chairs and vintage chandeliers are so neat! There are even painted vintage tins on the ceiling! She thought of every single detail! You can’t help but love this room!

This back patio connected to the dining area is a simple and elegant outdoor space. We love how the natural colors from the interior blend into the exterior of this home. We could definitely relax on this patio and enjoy a pink summer lemonade!

This space off the main area of the outdoor patio combines the beautiful architectural classic feel of this home with these amazing vintage industrial stools off of the kitchen. Just open up the window and pass through some dinner! LOVE this home!

Small Spaces, Big Style

August 11, 2010

Decorating a smaller home can be challenging. As I was looking for inspiration for my smaller home, I came across a great article from HGTV’s “5 Small-Room Rules to Break.” They are going the unconventional route and telling all of us to break the rules we have been taught for so many years: and I have to agree with them! They have some great ideas, so I thought I would share their ‘rules to break’ with you! Their top ‘break your patterns and rules’ are as follows;

Rule # 1 to Break: Paint Small Spaces White

Rule # 2 to Break: Stay Away From Lots of Patterns

Rule # 3 to Break: Keep Knick-Knacks to a Minimum

Rule # 4 to Break: Very Small Rooms Demand Very Small Furniture

Rule # 5 to Break: Hang Lots of Mirrors to Visually Expand a Space
