Beautiful Show with Rachel Ashwell

October 8, 2010

This past weekend Kristen and I headed up north to Nipomo, Ca, to an amazing event called the, Remnants of the Past show with special guest, Rachel Ashwell from the beautiful Shabby Chic website and stores. The event was at a remote location in Nipomo at a beautiful old barn nestled within an avocado orchard. There were fall colours and amazing scents of pumpkins and other fall favorites amongst this neat little setting. It felt as if it were something out of a fairy tale, with amazing decor and friendly people.

As if the beautiful setting wasn’t enough, there were so many neat things going on inside the event. Rachel Ashwell was signing books and talking about her most recent design book. She was so kind and was really interactive at the event. She spent time talking about her experience with design and answered questions from her audience of listeners. It was really neat to hear!

There were also so many beautiful booths with amazing antique and vintage furniture, beautiful linens and textiles, and adorable handmade pieces from many vendors. Many of the booths were very soft and elegant, much like the style of Rachel Ashwell, but also with a touch of industrial style. Everything was was really amazing! Take a look at some of the very pretty booths shot by Kristen!

Here are some of the beautiful booths that were actually inside the barn. There was beautiful lighting and a fun atmosphere inside! I loved it!

Kristen shot some amazing photos for this post and I’m really happy she captured how beautiful the day really was! We definitely will be back at their next event this coming Spring. We’re so happy we made it up there because it definitely was not a day to forget!

Kiss My Mutt + SF Girl By Bay

September 22, 2010

Kristen and I both LOVE dogs. I’m so in LOVE with dogs I decided I wanted my career to consist of everything dog! So, I started my company, Kiss My Mutt, where I design eco-friendly dog products, including beds, collars, leashes, and other products.

This past week we had a great photo shoot with an adorable little dog named Lucy, rescued by popular design blogger (we are sure many of your know), Victoria Smith, from SFGirlByBay.com, shot by Kristen (Kristen Beinke Photography).

We saw photos of Lucy on Victoria’s blog, and knew we wanted to shoot her for Kiss My Mutt! Not only do we love that Victoria rescued her from a Bay Area animal shelter, but we also couldn’t resist Lucy’s stunning blue eyes and beautiful white coat. We couldn’t wait for the two to head up to Santa Barbara from their recent trip to LA for Lucy’s modeling debut.

Lucy was the perfect little model that definitely knew how to work the camera! She was so calm, and listened to Victoria’s every word. Not only was this shoot so much fun, but I really loved how much Lucy admired Victoria. She honestly seemed so thankful to finally have a loving home. As an avid dog lover, this was so sweet for me to see!

We had to head out to our ‘signature’ location for Lucy’s shoot. She did such a great job, and her beautiful blue eyes looked stunning against the pink wall!

How stunning is this photo? Lucy looks beautiful on the Kiss My Mutt ‘Eco-friendly Autumn Olive’ bed! This bed is water resistant, and it’s plush fillers are made from recycled plastic bottles turned into a cozy fiberfill. The perfect combination of style and usability for the home.

Victoria is such a kind person, and Lucy is such a sweet dog. We had a great time with the both of them, and look forward to another shoot sometime in the future! Thank you so much to Victoria and Lucy!

Mix and Match

September 16, 2010

I recently found these amazing photos of this fun and flirty home designed by Jonathan Berger in Brooklyn, NY. I love how he mixed and matched styles to create a one-of-a-kind space. His use of bright colours express his originality and amazing style! Berger found furniture everywhere, from Christies to eBay. His inspiring use of antique rugs next to zebra carpets, hot pink and blue fabrics, and eBay finds next to antique furnishings makes me want to redesign my home in this style.

My favorite room in this home is definitely the kitchen. It’s so light and bright, and it very unique! Berger used antiqued mirrored glass on the cabinets to create the illusion that the kitchen is bigger than it really is. Enjoy these beautiful photos!

I can’t wait to see what else Berger has in store for us in the future!
