Connect Nature with Style

November 1, 2010

Although the weather is cooling and people begin to spend more time indoors, I still love to spend time outside in the warm afternoon sun. Personalize your outdoor space with a quick and easy style solution by adding a vintage bench to your patio. The great potted plants and vintage wicker basket all bring a neutral feel to this outdoor patio, with the one brighter hue of colour; the yellow painted wall. We made sure there was a connection between nature and style in every piece of decor in this image, and created a space that we love to enjoy for that much needed peace and quiet.

What’s Behind that Door?

September 15, 2010

Unique doors always intrigue me.  You never know the story behind the building, where it may take you, and who lives behind these beautiful doors. I discovered a few amazing doors in Paris I wanted to remember. I shot these with one of my vintage polaroids, and I’m especially fond of this little dog who was tied up to this beautiful blue door. He created the perfect shot for me!

The detail on this gold ornate gate is unbelievably breathtaking! I really wanted to open this heavy gate and walk inside to discover the rest of this property. I’m sure the rest of the art on this building would not disappoint!

Back from Paris

September 13, 2010

Bonjour!  I’m back from Paris and this week I will share a few places I discovered while I was on holiday that I loved. I shot so many photos, and will be posting them throughout the week. I had an amazing time walking through the city, enjoying the architecture, searching through old antique furniture shops, vintage jewelry stands, and of course searching for finds at the Paris flea market.

I was amazed by the mix of new and old architecture throughout the city. It was such a great experience, and I loved taking in all my beautiful surroundings. Here are a few places and spaces that I thought were amazing…

Tomorrow I will be posting about my experience at the Paris flea market. Can’t wait to share some of the beautiful pieces I wish I could have brought home with me!

Stylish Home

August 18, 2010

We are so crazy about this home! These images are from a recent shoot Kristen did in Los Olivos, California. There is an obvious beauty when you look at this home, with amazing architectural details and very creative decor. We have found the details and style of this home to be so personal and inviting. The home owner has combined a breathtaking style with an element of classic design mixed in with great vintage finds.

We love the large barn doors that break up the dining area and the family room. These beautiful vintage barn doors are directly opposite of classic french doors that open up to a spacious back patio. The home owner’s choice of natural colors of whites, browns, and tans, add an element of classic decor, and the vintage inspired dining chairs and vintage chandeliers are so neat! There are even painted vintage tins on the ceiling! She thought of every single detail! You can’t help but love this room!

This back patio connected to the dining area is a simple and elegant outdoor space. We love how the natural colors from the interior blend into the exterior of this home. We could definitely relax on this patio and enjoy a pink summer lemonade!

This space off the main area of the outdoor patio combines the beautiful architectural classic feel of this home with these amazing vintage industrial stools off of the kitchen. Just open up the window and pass through some dinner! LOVE this home!

Fall Gardens at Home

July 30, 2010

There is something about being outdoors and enjoying nature late in the summer and early into fall. It is warm and peaceful, and definitely one of our favorite times of the year. Although many people begin new home gardens in the spring, it is never to late to learn to plant and grow seeds for every season! Why not start your own fall garden? Growing healthy, organic vegetables and plants for you and your family will be a fulfilling experience. Make it your own ‘me’ time in your backyard, or involve the entire family! There are so many tasty greens to grow, like lettuce to turnips, to squash and broccoli!

Between August and and November you can plant seeds determining on their best growing months to bring you and yours the tastiest and healthiest vegetables around! We found this great site, www.MotherEarthNews.com to help you learn the best germination conditions for your garden!
